"Colonoscopy following GP referral"

About: Sloane Hospital

A very minor ache in my lower abdomen caused me to consult my GP who then referred me to a specialist within the NHS. The physical examination was inconclusive and it was suggested that I have a series of further examinations I.e. X-Ray, MRI and CT Scan to fully understand the cause of my ache. I was told that each examination could entail a six week delay whilst I was loaded onto each waiting list. I was concerned that my problem could have a Cancer connection and asked for a referral to the Sloane Hospital to have a very quick colonoscopy which confirmed bowel Cancer. Then followed all the required electronic scans which confirmed bowel Cancer with secondaries in the Liver and a small mark in the Thorax. I was horrified and alarmed, I had never been in hospital in almost sixty years! The early examination and confirmation of my worst fears probably saved my life. The subsequent Chemotherapy which reduced all cancers considerably, led to two operations. After further 'mopping up ' doses of chemotherapy I am now declared 'in remission' and free of all signs of cancer. 2013 was a very difficult year for me and my family. I am deeply grateful to The Sloane Hospital for their timely intervention and diagnosis. My thoughts are that if you fear the worst and cannot wait for the NHS to confirm your fears then the Sloane Hospital will help you quickly and carefully.
