"An emergency visit to the stoma nurses"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I had a painful and frightening swelling around my stoma, which was getting worse. I telephoned the stoma nurse team and was advised to go to the hospital that morning. I did this and was seen within 10 minutes of arriving. I was treated with respect and compassion and was greatly reassured. As a result of this the stoma nurse requested my GP to refer me to a colo-rectal consultant, which she has done.

From the helpfulness of the hospitality team when I arrived, to the care of the stoma nurses I could not have wished for a better service.
