Following a referral by my GP, Friday 13th March (of all days) saw one most anxious male attend for a Gastroscopy Test. A friendly nurse asked a me few questions, when told of the anxiety they suggested this could be overcome by having a relaxant (not anaesthetic) given via canula into a vein; then straight to the area for the test to be carried out. A few more questions from the nurse who was to carry out the test then on with the job. A canula was fitted followed by a couple of anaesthetic sprays into the back of the mouth and the next thing was hearing 'we are taking you to a recovery ward - job done'. A glass of water, cup of tea 2 biscuits then told you can go home. No recollection of the procedure, no pain, no bleeding, no problem swallowing just no awareness of having the test done. Total time involved? about 2 hours. A very professional caring team, well done! Rating 10/10. This was the second day procedure that I have had at Geo Eliot the previous was in July 2012 when a PRS was carried out in the Urology Unit . Again an absolutely first class performance by all the team involved during my overnight stay. During many appointments at GEH I have always encountered very caring staff anxious to do the best for their patient. T Sharp
