"Some of the staff were amazing, ..."

About: The Great Western Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Some of the staff were amazing, but they were few and far between. Staff from the AAU were outstanding.

What could be improved

I was in a ward and had to put up with listening to nurses moaning about their hours, gossiping at the same time as dealing with patients that needed bed baths etc, it took an average of 15minutes for a nurse to answer when pressing the call bell, the day I was released from hospital I went down with norovirus which I then passed on to my partner. While in hospital I had to keep reminding nurses what medication I was due and when and I wasnt being awkward, the medication was on a strict timescale steroids etc by iv and they continually arrived late or with the wrong dose

Anything else?

Overall the experience of being a patient was diabolical and I will never repeat it, I would rather spend my life savings going private than step foot in your hospital again. I was in hospital, the illness I was diagnosed with was very serious and life changing, and although the car I received to start from AAU and my consultant and his direct staff, the nursing in the ward was totally unacceptable.
