"A&E"

About: Macclesfield District General Hospital

I attended A & E today following a fall,I was very impressed with the speed I was seen by the triage Nurse and consequent X-ray,however,the following incident caused me some distress. I was seen later by the Emergency Nurse Practitioner, approximately three hours later( which I have no concerns about) I thought their attitude was very patronising. They informed me they would assess my ankle for an x-ray,advised them I had already had one done three hours ago,but they could not find the results so asked me if i had it done that day.I assured them I had one done. They did find it eventually, read the x-ray telling me it was a sprain, then proceeded to say my shoes were very pretty but not suitable for my injury( i only put them on as I could not get my foot in& they were flat) Their whole attitude I felt was not very professional, they addressed me as sweetheart which was very condescending, and a term of endearment normally only used by my husband. As a qualified Mental Health Nurse found it very offensive.and unacceptable.
