"Hysterectomy op!"

About: Royal Preston Hospital

Hi there, I was in hospital for the period of two and a half days in total, after a full Hysterectomy, I was very nervous and my Doctor and all the nurses before and after my op made me feel very reassured indeed! I could not fault the nurses and all their amazing help when in the hospital at all, they were fab! The only disappointing thing was, the day after my op, because i was doing so well and they needed the beds, and it was so busy on the ward, i got moved in total three times! It wasnt the nurses fault, i dont know who is to blame, but after a major operation, it was the last thing i needed. The very last time i was moved was at 12 O Clock at night, from the Gyno ward right down to the Day Care Ward, were again they did the best they could for me! By the time the morning came i was so tired and upset, with all the moving around, i was so glad in the end, when they said i could go home! Im not bad mouthing the hospital and the staff as they were fab, it just doesnt seem right that because i was doing okay compared to some people, that i was moved so much! Its just not what expected when coming in for a major operation!

Thank you for providing your feedback. I'm sorry to hear that your largely positive experience was marred by the numerous bed/ward moves you experienced on the day following your surgery. As a Trust, we are working with other health and social care providers to improve patient flow in order to ensure that our patients can be cared for in the correct area and that they do not have the same experience that you had.
