"Broken hand isn't broken"

About: Calderdale Royal Hospital

I bring my son to a&e on Monday where I am told a bone in his hand has a subtle break. It is potted and we leave. At fracture clinic today we are told it isn't broken and the pot is removed. How does this happen? Two days pay lost, child off school with pain. Who has made the right diagnosis. I don't feel confident at all with this. Quite dissatisfying.
