I attended Grantham hospital today for a gastroscopy and colonoscopy. I was warmly welcomed as soon as I entered the department and my admittance details were dealt with by a very competent student nurse. Throughout my stay I was addressed by my Christian name which made me feel valued as a patient even though I was only in hospital for a few hours. All the staff introduced themselves to me and throughout my stay I was asked if I had any questions and was I all right. The atmosphere on the ward was relaxed and the staff seemed to have good working relationships. When I was admitted to the procedure room, I found the same friendliness and professionalism. This made a big difference to my experience of the procedures which I had not been looking forward to. The doctor soon put me at ease and lightened the experience for me with a good sense of humour. I would sum up my whole experience as very positive and comfortable thanks to the excellent staff and the care they gave to me.
"Very impressed"
