"Only one thing im afraid, convenience."

About: Cheltenham General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Only one thing im afraid, convenience.

What could be improved

Where to begin, as I have been in this hospital numerous times. Ok, for starters cleanliness. The cleaning staff seem to have a very relaxed attitude with this, I have noticed blood on the walls and floors that has been there for days. Second, food. No wonder people are dying from malnutrition when they serve rubbish like that, I was fortunate as I had people bring food in.

Thirdly and I will keep this brief, some not all nurses could use some people skills.

Anything else?

There are alot of things I could add but im afraid I would take up 500 pages on this site, Cheltenham General need to have a serious rethink on how they treat their patients and the state of their wards. Complaining does no good what so ever there as I have tried in the past.

Many thanks for your comments and we are sorry if you were unhappy with your experience in our hospital.

We notice that your comments relate to your experience in August and we hope that you raised your concerns with staff on the ward at the time, to allow them the opportunity of resolving them for you.

Hygiene and the prevention of infection is a high priority for the Trust and we are pleased that we recently received a full and clean bill of health following an unannounced inspection by the NHS Watchdog, the Care Quality Commission. This involved unplanned visits to wards and departments across our hospitals, reviewing well over 40 policies and interviewing staff. The full report is available on the Trust's website at www.gloshospitals.nhs.uk.

With regard to the food served to our patients, our catering team are alsways open to suggestions and comments and personally visit patients who are unhappy with their food.

The catering team was recently awarded Hospital Caterer of the Year by the Hospital Caterers Association, in competition with all Trusts in the UK.

With the information you have given to us we would be unable to look into your concerns further, however we would encourage you to contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0800 0192382.
