"Son put at ease by friendly nursing staff"

About: Wishaw General Hospital / Emergency department

(as a parent/guardian),

My 5 year old son received a head injury today & as such had to attend the Emergency Department in Wishaw General Hospital. He was clearly very upset and had an obvious large swelling in his head which was bleeding.

He was taken in triage and allocated a child friendly room. Even though the Department was clearly incredibly busy, we were delt with quickly and professionally.

My son was put at ease with he friendly nursing staff. This ensured that what might have been a very traumatic experience for him turned out to be a learning experience, that he is now looking forward to sharing with his teacher & classmates when he returns to school on Monday as part of his "People who help us" curriculum and of course showing off his paper stitches.

I would also like to add that the room was very clean, something a mother notices in a public place with two children.

Thank you Wishaw Emergency Department, a credit to our hospital and town.

Dear Saur Alba,

I was sorry to hear that your son had an accident and this must have been an anxious time for you both. Thank you for taking the time to share with us your very positive experience. The team work very hard to ensure we meet the individual needs of children and families who attend the department and I will pass on your comments to them.

I was also pleased that you found the department to be very clean, again something the team take pride in.

I hope your son has made a good recovery and the class enjoyed his story!

Kind Regards,

Gillian
