"I do not understand the need for TRAQS"

About: Shropshire and Staffordshire Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as the patient),

From a layman’s perspective I do not understand the need for TRAQS. Why could my doctor not have made a referral direct to the dermatology clinic?

Although the TRAQS service did not overly delay my referral, I had to wait over 3 months from seeing my doctor seeing a specialist. I do not consider that to be a great service.

However, I would like to add that the consultant I met was excellent.

Dear Narrow514

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with the TRAQS team.

I am disappointed that your GP did not provide you with a copy of the Patient Leaflet which explains how TRAQS works and what happens next.

Unfortunately the wait to be seen by a specialist is outside TRAQS control and as demand for specific services increases this does have an effect on the waiting times experienced by patients.

TRAQs – what does it do?

TRAQS is a service for people in Telford and Wrekin allowing patients to be seen in the right place, first time. If a GP decides to refer a patient for an appointment or treatment, TRAQS will contact the patient to help get this arranged. This is done through a central point of contact using local call centre staff who have local knowledge of the area and transport options.

For more information about TRAQS visit our website where you can download a leaflet at: http://www.telfordccg.nhs.uk/traqs-telford-referal-and-quality-services

Thank you again for taking the time to provide feedback which is much appreciated
