What I liked
the aneathatist i saw prior to my op - she was the only one who took my meat allergy seriously and assured me she would make sure i was not given anything unsuitable whilst i was in surgery.
What could be improved
catering - dispite having 'meat alleregy' and 'vegetarian diet' written on the board above my bed - the member of staff ordered my meals for the next day as i was still in surgery ordered me a meat based meal!! i basically had to go without as an alternative meal could not be provided at 'this late stage' . i kept refusing fragmin as it is porcine based as each time was made to feel like i was being difficult (one nurse offered to discuss this with pharmacy but never did). my surgery was on friday and the ward did not have a ward round following that until untill 10 am on sunday - thankfully i was discharged.
Anything else?
single sex female ward had 3 male patients on it to start with - the were apoligised to but no apolgies were made to female patients. although the problem was resolved quickly and the males were moved in a few hours.
