I recently had to spend some time in the FRH after having surgery, I must say my consultant was brilliant, I see my Consultant at the RVI but had to have surgery at the FRH and stay, initially they thought my stay would be 1 night, but seeing as I was unwell I had to stay longer, the day after surgery. I was on wd 3 and asked the domestics if possible would they not use the bleach as it sets off my asthma, one domestic was lovely and said thank you for telling them, and it was not a problem, the other one, was quite nasty and said well I've never heard that before!! They then stood at the door discussing this with a member of the heath care assistant staff, and this member of staff said, "that patient shouldn't even be here, she is gynea, and should go home, she is only suppose to be here one night." I had just been through surgery, was quite unwell, was in a lot of pain and on extremely strong medication, and hearing this remark made me very upset. Two other patients heard the health care assistant saying this and were quite disgusted by it. I did speak to two staff nurses about this who reassured me, but I felt my care from this health care assistant was in doubt. I did not trust them and would not ask for help if they were around. I hope I never have to encounter anything like this again.
"If only they were all nice"
