"Brilliant maternity team: safe delivery of baby..."

About: The Whittington Hospital

Truly impressed by the whole maternity unit from birth centre to labour ward and everything in-between. Highly competent, professional and friendly staff; care taken to support and assure scared & overwhelmed first-time parents. We were treated with respect and dignity and fully involved in the decision making of our son's delivery. Birth plan was for birth centre as pregnancy was uncomplicated, but changed completely, as baby was OP (back to back position) and I (mother) opted for an epidural due to excruciating back pain. Unfortunately, as labour failed to progress and baby's CTG was pathological, the decision was made for an emergency c-section, only after all other options exhausted, to deliver naturally. As parents, we believe this was the best decision in order to deliver our boy safely as the chord was around his neck. The baby doctors also played a crucial role to help our baby breath. Both my son and I also received great care and advice from all the midwives and maternity staff during our two day stay on the Cellier Ward afterwards. Special mention has to be made of our main obstetric team, midwifes, Reg Drs, Aneasthetist and Consultant. Thank you again!

Congratulations on the arrival of your son and thank you very much for taking the time to leave us your feedback. We'll make sure this is passed onto our maternity team.
