I was admitted to A&E on Wednesday early morning (1am) and eventually ended up on the Surgical Assessment Ward. I thought the staff at this Hospital were excellent, from the moment I was admitted - right up to the moment I was discharged. The porters, cleaning staff, nursing staff, doctors... everyone was very professional and made me feel like I was in good hands the whole time I was there. When they weren't sure what was wrong with me - they told me so, but also kept me informed with their plans to diagnose my illness. When I asked for Pain Relief, it was promptly delivered. At no time during my stay did I feel confused or anything, and I was particularly pleased that the Ward allowed me a visit from my partner, my baby and my parents. My only small gripe was that I was discharged at 6pm, but I didn't actually leave the Hospital until 9pm - as my prescription wasn't signed off, and there were no doctors available to sign me out. I felt this should have been done at the time I was discharged, the prescription itself I could have collected from the Pharmacy - I just felt I was taking up a Hospital Bed unneccessarily. In any case, this hasn't soured my experience of the Hospital - I would fully recommend it to any patient in need of care.
"Very pleased with everything, except discharge..."
