My 3 year old son has an operation on Friday as an outpatient. We arrived around 7.30am as instructed and were promptly shown to his bed and he was admitted. The nurse was very thorough with the paperwork which gave me the reassurance I needed. The level of care we received throughout the day was unbeatable. They were so attentive, understanding and organised. Every member of staff involved in my sons care, actually cared about his health and wellbeing and they were great at distracting him - we didn't even have a single tear in the anesthetics room! After surgery he's obs were taking regularly and they checked regularly to make sure he'd eaten and drank and been to the toilet. There was one nurse who stood out most of all though - was extremely caring and kind and was amazing with my son. Discharge was efficient and upon leaving I felt comfortable with knowing his aftercare and what to look out for in an emergency.
