"The care of my Mother was second to none."

About: Royal Albert Edward Infirmary

My, Mother could have not had better care if she had been in a Bupa Hospital, she was admitted to Pemberton Ward on the 17. 02 15 and the Sister explain in full what treatment and care they were doing for my Mum. Sadly on the 19th at 8.20am we got the call that Mum had requested us to go to her, with rush hour traffic and road works we got there for 9.30am and never left her side until 11.20 pm Sunday evening (22.02.15) until after my Mother sadly past away. So I saw first hand how hard the staff on Pemberton Ward worked, for the other patient's on the ward when their friends and family where not with them. We was always kept in form with everything plus they even put a bed in the Mums room for us, so my daughter & I could take turns to sleep and they brought in a trolley of tea, coffee and snacks in for our use. This as far as I concerned this is beyond nursing care of my Mother, but also making sure the close family were looked after. At, 7.50pm Saturday night, my Mum wanted a fried egg, and guess what, they managed to get one to her by 8.pm, we could not believe it and laughed about it. Thank's again to all on Pemberton Ward for all your love and care for Joan Ashcroft. Denise Knowles & family We must all fight for the NHS.

Thank you for your posting. At the outset may I offer my sincere condolences to you and your family at this sad time. The privacy and dignity of our patients and their family is high on our agenda and the staff work hard to maintain this. I am pleased that staff were able to meet your mother’s requests and provide compassion and care during this difficult time. I will ask the Head of Nursing for Medicine to share you posting with staff on Pemberton Ward to ensure the team are aware of your kind comments.
