"Another inguinal hernia surgery patient"

Like the other gentleman who had reviewed his procedure at the Cobalt I too chose it because of the short waiting time. Until I was offered an appointment there to see my consultant to confirm the diagnosis I wasn't even aware that there was a hospital at Cobalt. I'm pleased there is and that I used it. I hadn't expected to be scheduled so quickly for surgery - a couple of weeks from requesting appointment. I was very anxious about it and booked to be first on the list. On arrival at 7:50 a.m. I was put at ease by everyone, first at reception, then the nursing staff, the anaesthestist, the surgeon. There was little time from arrival to get too anxious as everything went so quickly, smoothly and professionally. Details were taken and confirmed in anti room, given the gown etc to wear. Shown to room with locker to change into it. Back to anti room and then the short walk to the prep room for theater. All very quick and no time to get more anxious. Very slick. Waking from the operation you're in recovery room then taken to another area and transferred from trolley to reclining chair. Then when you're ready back to room to get dressed ready to go home. My op was at 8 just as scheduled and discharged at 11.30. Again, very slick. I was given pain killers to take, information about changing dressings and a "goody bag" with all the stuff I needed. Following day a nurse called on the phone to make sure all was well. The place is very very clean, modern and well ran. I'd certainly recommend even though I am sceptical of the creeping privatisation of the NHS. I'd also reiterate what the other reviewer said about not underestimating recovery time. Being a day case I thought I'd be back to work by the end of the week albeit working from home. Nope. It takes time. Ice your wound every hour for 20 minutes in the first couple of days and try to keep moving it helps. Highly recommended on every level.
