"Daily Miracles"

About: New Cross Hospital

If you are going to have a heart attack do it as close as possible to New Cross B14. From 999 to all fixed was all of 90 minutes and as someone who knows nothing of hospitals or medicine, I was astonished by the speed and efficiency of the expert staff in action here. My care was also superb, though it is obvious that the nurses are overworked and doing many tasks that surely could be done by ancillaries. Bedpans and bed-making do not require graduate skills! As for the form filling and box-ticking that is demanded.... OK it is good that everything is treble-checked, but it does take a lot more time to get out than to get in. This starting to sound like a moan, which is not my intention at all - and please do not see my ignoring of the "same-sex accommodation" rating as negative. I am just entirely unconcerned by this. The staff of B14 are expert and humane. I am humbled by their skills and capacity for patience under the unrelenting pressure they experience for 12 hours every day and every night. I just want you all to know that it is appreciated.
