About: Princess Alexandra Hospital (Harlow)

I gave birth to my Daughter (2nd Baby) just over 2 weeks ago on the birthing unit. The room was beautiful, and our midwife was professional, caring and encouraging. I had a straightforward 5 1/2 hour labour where my Daughter was born in the birthing pool. However almost straightaway after the placenta was delivered and throughly checked over, I started to feel faint and extremely cold. I was attached to a drip and taken straight over to labour ward where my Husband was told that I had retainted membranes and was suffering a massive haemorrhage. My husband and Mum counted more than 20 medical professionals in the theatre room who were all calm, informative and all contributed in different ways to saving my life. I truly would not be here now if it wasn't for all the quick reaction of the midwives on the birthing centre, and the team of people not only in the theatre room but in recovery afterwards who so kindly and respectfully looked after my Husband and I. After such a horrific ordeal, I am able to look back on my Daughter's birth in a somewhat positive light, after meeting such incredible people and inspiring people. I would recommend Princess Alexandra to anyone having a baby, you wouldn't get better care even if you paid privately. Enormous thanks to everyone single person who cared for me and gave much needed support to my poor Husband, we are so incredibly grateful. Kerry and Daryl Smith, and Baby Esme :)
