"Pleasant and reassuring experience"

About: Hammersmith Hospital

I injured my knee a couple of days ago in a rather unpleasant way. I called my surgery straight after the accident to enquire about the best way to proceed - I didn't want to waste GP's time and didn't want to wait for a week or so for an appointment, if necessary. They told me to go directly to hospital if my knee still hurt after a couple of days or so. As I found it still quite difficult to walk and I was in pain today, I went to the Hammersmith Hospital. I had never been to an UCC before, so when I found about it, I decided to give it a go. After all, I guessed my knee wasn't broken as I could bend it, but I wasn't sure what was going on and how to best take care of it. Plus, I dreaded the idea of long hours at A&E at St. Mary's for such a small thing. On my arrival, there was just one person waiting before me and the service was very quick. The person doing the assessment was very kind and empathetic. I then saw the nurse practitioner, who was not only professional and thorough in examining me and explaining what was involved in the injury, but also warm and understanding. I found the medical reassurance I needed, meanwhile receiving more useful information on the service. And, icing on the cake, when I left the staff at the reception and the assessor friendly waved goodbye. Definitely a bit more faith in NHS coming from me! Thank you everyone tonight.
