My mum was admitted in an emergency situation. The doctors were polite, professional and informative, however, once Mum was moved to the ward some, not all, of the nurses or care staff were extremely rude, hostile and unprofessional; constantly telling Mum to be quiet; refusing to provide a commode (stating that it contravenes health and safety) and being extremely aggressive. All of the patients, except Mum, had diaroeah and the level of respect shown to these people when staff were cleaning and changing them was not what I would expect and was more like punishment than care. Once Mum was discharged, I contacted the ward, by telephone, to ask for information about her follow up care and the ward clerk who spoke to me on the phone was very hostile and exasperated and as far removed from what I would expect from another human being as is possible (never mind someone working in a hospital supposedly caring for vulnerable, infirm, elderly people).
"Total lack of respect for others fron certain..."
