"Worst hospital experiences ever!"

I am never usually one to visit hospitals myself, however in the past couple of months both my other half and my mother have been admitted into A&E for different reasons. On both occasions it was late and the actual waiting room was empty. Although the wait to see someone was still between 1 and 2 hours on both occasions. My mother had to wait several hours for blood test results which came back clear, she was poked and prodded and told she had a hernia, she was in agony and still the senior doctor sent her home! I was so shocked, frustrated and annoyed that nothing had been done and she was just told she had a hernia. She went to the GP the next day who could not believe she had been sent home, she stated that my mother should have been operated on there and then! My other half went in after feeling faint and having a very abnormal heart beat. By the time we got to the hospital, it was empty again, we waiting for about an hour before being seen and which point it had slowed down. He had some bloods taken which came back fine and they monitored his heart rate. After waiting another 2.5 hours we were taken out of the waiting room again (empty the whole time) and told that it was "probably a panic attack" and that we could go home. He has never suffered panic attacks before and we were actually in bed watching TV when this happened so i find it hard to belive. On both occasions very little was done in relation to telling us what was going on, the Dr's and nurses were all sitting around talking about holidays and nothing was being done! The full department is a complete joke! After these two occasions i am thinking of getting BUPA health care because i do not trust southport at all! Everyone I have spoken to has nothing other than bad things to say about southport. I am a tax payer so I should receive reliable, timely and at least moderately decent health care! however the only thing i can do is pay into BUPA and hope they will look after me better shoud i evern need it, because let me say i personally never want to be admitted to that hospital. To round up, the staff dont really seem to care, its just a "job". The waiting times are horrendous on a good day and the fulll experience was just disappointing. My other half lives in liverpool and it was his first visit to southport hospital, he told me he had never seen anything like southport before, he said Liverpool was so much better. Something needs doing, I will be officially complaining to NHS about this too in the hope that something can be done about this failing hospital!
