"2nd operation cancelled last minute"

About: East Surrey Hospital

Call 530pm today cancelling the wife operation for a second time bed management say no beds. Totally disgrace that the bed management can overrule consultants decision for the need to operate. Got a callback 10 mins later told to turn up and demand the op is done and to stand our ground. What kind of system is this he who shouts loudest is rewarded writing to MP and national press...................................

Dear Anonymous

Firstly apologies that we have only just responded to your posting on NHS choices and Patient Opinion.

Its difficult to respond to your comment without knowing the detail so if you'd care to e-mail ian.mackenzie@sash.nhs.uk I can ensure this is looked into.

Please be assured though that patients are not cancelled or postponed lightly and that this will have been in consultation with relevant clinical staff and only because of other clinical or operational priorities such as significant emergency demand.

Regards

Ian
