I attended the Southern General Hospital for a full body bone scan. I had to attend at 10: 30 for the injection of the radio isotope and then return to the department at 13: 30. Both times, I was seen quickly and efficiently by a radiographer called Diane (I think) who was lovely. She explained exactly what would happen and advised me of the particular things I was to do following the injection.
The scan itself took about half an hour and was not unpleasant at all, although the scanner does get quite close to your face. The room was quiet and calm, but perhaps a little bit of background music could be played during the procedure.
The information I received with my appointment letter was useful and helped me prepare for the scan and also showed a map of how to get to the department.
