"managing nova virus"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford)

Whilst my husband was in hospital with a lung infection a patient with the nova virus was vomiting in the sink in the bay my husband was in on the ward also using the same toilet as my husband after 24 hrs the patients in that bay were moved to another bay so a deep clean could be done the ward wasn't closed and the patient with the virus told me it was him.We didn't know but my husband was infected he came home same night very bad with the bug 2 days later I got the bug we had to cancel our holiday abroad. Surely this situation could have been dealt with better!

Thank you for providing us with feedback, and I am sorry that you and your husband were affected by norovirus. Please do email me your details and we can discuss the issues you have raised. Our infection control team work with our wards to manage the situation as soon as we are aware of cases. However, it sounds as if there are some learning points for us in your situation.

Please email me on Julie.pearce1@nhs.net
