Just spent a week as an inpatient following surgery to remove a tumour on my colon. Although I was only in Intensive Care for 24 hours my time there was most satisfactory. I felt the nursing staff were very attentive and very reactive to ensuring my pain was managed. I spent 48 hours in High Care and again the staff and treatment was excellent. The rest of the stay was on Ward E3 which, possibly because I was getting better, was a pleasure. All the staff there were excellent, particularly the orderly. They were not only always happy and cheery but they had a caring way that stood above the rest. Nothing was too much of an effort and they saw the bright side of anything that came their way. I would also like to say that for an NHS hospital I found the food to be usually very good.
