"Will never ever come here again to have a baby!"

About: North Middlesex Hospital

me and my partner come to northmid as it was one of the closest hospitals to us, to start with my mrs wanted to have a home birth as it was our 2nd but i convinced her to come to the hospital just incase baby needed any staff to help, when we first come in to the hospital they made us wait for 30 mins while my wife was getting contractions which they avenchally took us in and she was 2cm diolated, after 2 hours sent us home and said you got a while left keeping in mind we left at 2am, we got home about 2:30am when my wife had a bath, relaxing for about 30-45 mins once she got dryed contractions got alot worse so come back in about 3:30am which she was 4cm diolated, she asked for an epadural which they agreed to so off we went for the fun part, got settled into out labour room, by now my wife was in agony the pain in her face was unreal, they said you cant have epadural till we have a member of staff that can sit with you as cant be unertended, so we waited and waited now by 5:30am she was worse (screaming the place down) so i pushed the buzzer which noone came to so i went out and found 4 staff behind the desk on youtube laughing at funny videos, after i had a go at them they come in to help, we again asked for epadural they agreed right untill they got a doc got paper signed n read out t&c it was 6.50am they done one last check and baby was there so the midwifes done there job and got my lil boy out safe without any problems and wife was perfect no tears or any issues so in the end it was a natural birth which we was all happy about other then my wife, we then got moved into after birth were it got all worse and worse, we was there all day till 8pm where they told us we cant leave till Monday bearing in mind now is Friday evening asking why they said till social services come and see you, we then said okay, hospital food was disgusting, they had issues with me going to get my wife food from outside n taking into hospital, going out for fags was a no go once in that ward, paying for car meter we not allowed out of that ward only times you could go out to get air was at 3pm till 7:30pm and also only 2 ppl to see u at a time staff was all foran and absolute rude!! talking to you badly, telling you its not there prob your here saying to go back to your room where you belong, any advice do not use north middlesex hospital!

I am sorry that your experience whilst in our care was below the standard we would normally expect. We will be sharing your feedback with our teams. The health, safety and comfort of all our mums and babies is important to us and it is necessary to restrict the amount of visitors. Visiting times are set to allow mums to get enough rest and to feed their babies undisturbed. At night we ask partners not to continually leave the ward for cigarette breaks. Having to answer the door bell takes staff away from providing care to women and babies. If you wish to provide any further feedback contact g.slevin@nhs.net.
