I had visited the hospital during the afternoon for a scheduled appointment and received a prescription which I had to collect from an outside pharmacy. The prescription did not match the product specification and therefore the pharmacy would not issue this to me. My illness was serious and I required this medication asap.
I returned to St Peter's that evening and the 3rd floor Outpatients Dept had closed. Two nurses were walking out on their way to go home and they stopped me to ask what did I need and how could they help. These ladies were amazing.
They brought me to the Main Reception, offered that I take a seat and relax, and then proceeded to call colleagues in order to get a new prescription. They personally walked me to the department where a Doctor re-issued the prescription. These two nurses - Maria and Joyce - gave up 40 minutes of their own time after an 11 hour shift to assist me and they remained comforting, pleasant and professional - an absolute joy.
Please can someone ensure that Maria and Joyce receive the recognition they deserve and if only we had more nurses like them we would have an amazing NHS service. Thank you so very much.
"Two wonderful nurses"
