"Awful and very very worrying"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Gateshead)

How can experienced nursing staff on several wards not know how to fit an arm sling? It was left to relatives to put it on for my mam each time they visited. But more importantly what are medical records for? Hers must clearly state thatshe'ss allergic to specific antibiotics as she had a serious reaction last year in the QE, yet they administered antibiotics then studiously ignored the resulting skin reaction and total discomfort. Why?

Sorry to hear about this experience. This certainly isn't what we would expect for patients coming to the QE. If you would like to discuss this case in more detail so we can try and find out why this happened please contact our PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) on 0800 953 0667 or pals@ghnt.nhs.uk
