"Amazing Doctor in A&E!"

About: Lister Hospital

Considering the circumstances, I had the best experience whilst visiting the Lister A&E department on Wednesday 11th March at 9.00pm - 12.30am. On arrival, I was welcomed by a very friendly Receptionist, who engaged with me and made conversation, making me feel welcome. I was then triaged by a very friendly nurse who took the time to discuss my health issues. I then waited in a clean area. I was brought in for an ECG by an NHSP nurse, who was very friendly and made me feel comfortable. They chatted to me whilst the ECG was taking place which relaxed me. I had my bloods taken by a lovely nurse, who made me feel confident in their ability. They were kind and supportive. I would especially like to commend the Doctor, an FY2, who treated me and looked after me following this. They were kind and friendly. They immediately smiled at me and checked I was OK etc. We talked through my ill-health and they listened, allowing me to speak at my own pace, rather than rushing me along. They then assessed me they made me confident in their ability. They checked my problem and took bloods, which they did quickly and efficiently. Following this, I had to wait for bloods. The doctor explained the possible prognosis and confirmed that they would advise as soon as they had the bloods back. They showed me where to get a drink and offered me different areas to sit to ensure I was most comfortable. I was cold and they offered me a blanket. They also reassured me that it would not be too long of a wait and that they would arrange further pain killers. They made me feel that they were only a quick walk away if I needed their help. On their return, they slowly described the prognosis, advising of further treatment required. They answered all my questions. Throughout my visit, the doctor made me feel comfortable, cheery, important and most importantly safe. I am sure this is not always easy in a busy A&E department, but I genuinely don't think they could have done anymore to support me. They were lovely, friendly and genuine and I would just like to say a huge thank you to them and all the staff for making my experience a great one!

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to provide such a comprehensive account of your time in the care of the Lister's A&E team - it will help us make sure that your kind words reaches the team and they can get to see how highly you rated their clinical care as well as their support for you as a worried person. Visiting A&E is never something people want to do, so to be made feel welcome and supported is what the team aims to achieve. It sounds like in your case they got it spot on! We've started the process for your comments to be fed back to them and in the meantime, we hope that you are now feeling better.
