"mental breakdown"

About: Advocacy Support Cymru

(as the patient),

I had a mental breakdown and was admitted into my local hospital no body told me about the advocate, I only found out because I came across a leaflet explaining about the service and what they offer.

This is a difficulty that we know other people have had. We think it's really important that patients admitted to hospital are told about the Advocacy Service at the earliest opportunity - if we could come and tell everyone ourselves, we would, but there aren't enough of us! We spend a lot of time informing staff about our service, and also about their duty to pass this information on to patients.

It's good to hear that our leaflet came in useful, there should always be leaflets and posters on wards telling patients about Advocacy Support Cymru. Your feedback underlines how necessary this is.
