I was admitted on 7 march at 11.30 am to have a day procedure - hysteroscopy & endometriol biopsy. I was welcomed at reception and shown to my room which was like a hotel room but with all the necessary medical equipment, and an ensuite shower/toilet. The room was very clean - there was a TV - and phone all mod cons! I was introduced to the nurse who looked after me - who was very friendly and put me at ease took my blood pressure etc...checked my details and explained what would be happening. I then saw my consultant who further explained what would happen during the procedure. I was taken to surgery about 2 hours after arriving at hospital. Again my details were checked and a full explanation of what anaesthesia would be given. Once I came round in the recovery room I was given pain relief (Morphine) and once I was ok I was taken back to my room. The nurse organised for me to have some food - fish cakes, new potatoes, carrots and green beans. All delicious. The nurse shift changed and the nurse who looked after me very well - doing observations, making sure I had water and tea. The nurse organised all my discharge paperwork without any fuss, gave me my painkillers to take home and explained what to do if I was concerned about anything. I left the hospital at 7.30pm when my husband collected me.I was very well looked after from the moment I arrived to the time I left. I have a follow up appointment in 6 weeks time and will then have further surgery, due to the excellent treatment I have received to date I am not anxious about this in any way. I should also add that as an NHS patient I was never made to feel that I was less important than anyone else in there.
