"Crisis team"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

The crisis team were initially very supportive, but after discharge they didn't want to know me and have been rude, not returned my calls, hung up on me and made my condition out to be trivial. I have been refused an assessment more times than I can remember despite being suicidal. they should not have the word crisis in their name as they are never there in a crisis, they are quite happy to let you deal with it yourself even when at risk. Totally appalled by them I would not recommend them to anyone

The crisis team are managed by Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust and their response is below. I am extremely sorry that you have had this unfortunate experience with our crisis team. Discharge from the Crisis Team is planned and discussed with the individual usually with follow up support provided from the Community Mental Health Team. Part of that discharge discussion will include coping strategies; a crisis plan; boundary setting and other forms of support in the community. If any individual has experienced rudeness from staff a compliant can be made using the Trust Complaints process and will be investigated as we would take this inappropriate behaviour seriously. We welcome any feedback about our services and urge you to contact Nick Dent, Manager of our Patient Experience Team. You can telephone him on: 01227 812370 or email: Nicholas.dent@kmpt.nhs.uk
