"Very good local service"

About: Halton and St Helens PCT

(as the patient),

I live in the village of Halebank and I have an NHS facility that is used in the village and nearby villages. It is a very good local service. They have built a new facility in Widness which is really difficult for people to travel to and is always very busy. People are being referred there and the Halebank NHS service is only open on some days. I was a local councillor who was included in getting this facility to the village and is it closes it will be a waste of an excellent facility with great staff. Minor injuries could us it and all people living locally. I want to make sure that this facility is not closed down.

Dear Sniff563

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments onto the website, we value your feedback.

The Primary Care Trust (PCT) is committed to providing safe and effective services as close to where people live as possible and has opened the new Walk in Centre at the Health Care Resource Centre in Widnes and is looking to extend those services and the services at Halton Hospital to reduce the need for people to travel to an Accident and Emergency (A&E) department for minor injuries and illnesses. Almost 90% of patients attending the walk in centres at St Helens Millennium Centre and the Health Care Resource Centre in Widnes wait less than one hour. Halebank Access centre currently sees over 400 patients a month for phlebotomy services and assessment for minor ailments / injuries; the PCT will continue to strive to develop the service so as to offer the best and most effective care for local residents.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any further comments either via the Patient Opinion website or direct on our NHS Halton and St Helens Customer Care Unit freephone number 0800 849 7088.

Best Wishes

Customer Care Unit
