"Difficulties getting appointment over the phone"

About: Leeds PCT

(as the patient),

I rang Manor Park surgery this morning to get an appointment. I waited 23 minutes on an 0844 number. This will have cost me at least £1. Recently, when I haven't had the time, I've just given up.

I don't think this is acceptable. I've given feedback before and was given fairly meaningless feedback from the surgery about how it suits most people and how they welcome feedback. Things haven't improved. I'd like to know if this is still an issue that is being actively looked into. In particular I'd like to know whether they think it's acceptable for me to pay more than £1 to book an appointment.

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience on Patient Opinion. I am very sorry to hear that you had difficulty getting through to Manor Park Surgery to book an appointment. The Department of Health undertook a public consultation from 16th December 2008 to 31st March 2009 on the use of 084 telephone numbers within the NHS. The results of this consultation and the next steps to be taken can be found here I shall also make sure that your comments are passed onto the Practice Manager at Manor Park Surgery.
