"I heard nothing about my test results until I rang them"

I have been unwell since July 2008, I have been back and to and seen different consultants. My doctor sent me for an x-ray in December 2008, I was told that it was clear. I went to see the consultant, I had been having problems with eating and with my bowels - I had every test and nothing was found.

I was sent for a scan on July 9 2009! I was told if anything was found I would I would be informed, if not the results would be at my doctors within 7-10 days. I heard nothing at all, so I thought no news good news.

It wasn't good news, they had found something on my lungs, 9 wks on from the 1st scan, and I phoned to get results. I would never have known that I might have cancer in both lungs. I have my next scan on 15 September; my next appointment for results is 27 September. A long time from July - September - actually from December 2008 when chest was clear!
