My Mum, aged 91, was in your Hospital for approximately six weeks, being discharged on 29th February. During her stay - first on Ward 10 and then on Ward 11 - the whole family was extremely impressed by the level of care and attention she received from every member of staff involved with her. She was always treated with great consideration, and she retained her dignity throughout her stay. Some family members had to travel long distances to visit and had other commitments at home, and the Ward staff were very flexible with visiting times, provided that they were forewarned. In fact the only problem we encountered was, if standing still in the ward corridors, any passing member of staff would ask if we required help! We single out for special thanks to the Occupational Therapist and her assistants, who twice visited her home and arranged suitable aids to facilitate her safe independence at home. Coordination with Social Services and the local medical team has been good. However Social Services could not provide any transitional help when needed, which would have required further weeks in hospital for Mum. We have managed to arrange help ourselves and she is improving daily. When the press is full of NHS crisis stories, we found Macclesfield District General Hospital met and exceeded our expectations. Thank you.
