"Wrist fracture"

About: Addenbrooke's Hospital

My wife broke her wrist Sunday 1st March. A & E were superb; however we had to go back 2nd at 7am for surgery. No drink or food. Bed at 1pm then cancelled at 5.15pm. Extremely upsetting and stressful. Now again on Wednesday. Hope it's done then!

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your wife's experiences at Addenbrooke's. I am pleased to learn that her treatment at the Emergency Department went well, but I am sorry to learn of the cancellation of her surgery. The hospital has been under pressure recently regarding bed capacity, but staff are very much aware of the distress that cancellations cause and the decision to cancel an operation is never taken lightly. All patients are treated according to clinical priority and surgery is delayed only as a last resort and in the interests of patient safety. I hope your wife's treatment has now been completed, but if you would like to discuss the matter further please contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 01223 216756 or email pals@addenbrookes.nhs.uk.
