"My A and E visit"

I sustained a laceration to my head whilst playing rugby on the Saturday afternoon. I decided to go to A & E as it wouldn't fully stop bleeding.

On our arrival at A & E, the receptionist was extremely nice and explained what would happen.

I was called in to see the triage nurse after approx. 20 minutes, she was very gentle and made up a temporary dressing until I got in to see the doctor.

We then waited in the reception area to be called, just before I was called my doctor went out in to the car park with a nurse and a trolley to pick up a young boy who had badly fractured his leg.

The doctor a little later came and called me, then led us to a cubicle and then immediately said he needed to help with the young lad to which I replied ' of course.

A little while later he reappeared took one look at my laceration and said it needed gluing so he was going to pop off again to get some glue. The doctor came back another 15 minutes later, with a trainee doctor in tow.

The doctor was then extremely rough with my scar and caused it to start bleeding again. The doctor sent the trainee doctor off to get something, while the doctor was out of the room the doctor opened a cupboard and took something out which I couldn't make out what it was.

Without saying anything about what the doctor was going to do, the doctor unwrapped the packaging and proceeded to put staples into my head. The doctor put 7 staples in and was in the process of cleaning up any blood when the trainee re-appeared. It was as if the doctor realised that the trainee was supposed to see how the doctor treated me so the doctor grabbed the staple gun and put another one in! !

My partner then had to ask for me how I would get them out and who would take the out.

It was the trainee doctor who answered that question for me. I feel that the whole issue wasn't dealt with in an inappropriate manner.
