"Couldn't fault the care at Trent Cardiac Centre"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Cardiology

(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with a Bicuspid Aortic Valve, and Aortic Valve Stenosis when i was six years old. I was told that i would probably be looking at having replacement surgery at 40-50 yrs of age. Unfortunately, my condition dramatically deteriorated, and i was admitted for my surgery on 16th September, at the age of 24. I cannot fault the care i received, from my consultant, right through to the nurses caring for me after the surgery, everyone was brilliant. I was extremely nervous before the op, but the anaesthetists did their upmost to put me at ease, and to reassure me. I left hospital 6 days later, and am now able to go for long walks, and feel so much better already, only 2 weeks after surgery. Anyone going private for this op is wasting their money in my opinion, as the care on the Intensive care, High Dependancy and Morris wards is second to none. If you are going in for this procedure, i know how nervous you are, but it really hasn't been as bad as i imagined, and it does get better!!!
