"Elderly care"

About: Queen Alexandra Hospital

Over the last 3 years my father has been taken to QA by ambulance on numerous occassions due to chronic COPD, he was always treated with respect and great care, when sometimes he was quite grumpy due to pain and distress and the medications he was on. In A&E and then MAU the staff were fantastic with him and always included him in any decision making process despite dementia playing a big part in his life. They were always very supportive of me and provided my with answers, tea and a shoulder to cry on. sadly he has now passed away and in a strange way I will miss my late night sessions sat on a hard plastic chair in the department. Thank you to all who cared over the years.

Hi Sandy, thank you so much for taking the time to write to us. We are so pleased that through what must have been difficult times for you and your family, our staff were able to keep you and your father informed and treated you both with respect and dignity throughout. Please allow us to take this opportunity to offer our sincere condolences for your sad loss. Please be assured that we will of course pass your kind words on to the relevant staff members within the Emergency Department for their information. We are sure that they will be just as pleased to read your comments as we were. Many Thanks Leanne Complaints Officer
