I rang the unit recently. I was 39 wks pregnant and when going to the toilet began loosing quite a bit of blood. I couldn't feel my baby move and panicked. I was told to come in straight away, which I did.
From the minute I got there, the care I received was brilliant. The midwife hooked me up to a monitor and thankfully baby was fine. On examination I had began dilating so labour had began.
I was taken to the labour ward Before. Where I was monitored throughout the day as my labour progressed.
From 8am I had a midwife Terry who was so lovely and made me feel so calm. Then from 2pm I had another called Sara. Again she was brilliant!
I quickly went from 2cm to 10 within 2hrs and due to a long progressed pushing stage, I was taken into theatre for help. The care I recieved both during my labour process, during theatre and afterwards was outstanding.
Both my husband and I felt more calmer, reassured and supported through out that day and the days after where I received my after care.
I know everyone's experience is different and the strain that is on midwifes today is unbelievable. I would never have coped so well that day. I'm so thankful to the midwives, doctors and staff on that ward that day.
