"Miscarriage at Wishaw General. My Story"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Gynaecology (Ward 13)

(as other),

We have been trying for a baby for a few months and finally got the amazing news that my wife was pregnant. After suffering a miscarriage in August 14 we were delighted. The delight was cut short though when we went for our first scan and we were told that there was no heartbeat but it was too early for this to be confirmed and to return a week later for a second scan. A week passed and we returned to Hairmyres to find out that we had indeed lost our baby. My wife and I were inconsolable. We were offered 3 options to deal with the miscarriage and we chose the surgical option.

We were booked into wishaw general the same week. My wife and I were both worried about what this entailed and were genuinely worried. We were wrong to worry as the all the staff in wishaw General were simply amazing. We were dealt with great sensitivity and were given lots of attention and we really felt they cared about what my wife was going through.

When we walked in we were met by Nurse Maureen who was great with us, student nurse nikki was also great. The doctors and surgeons whose names I can't remember we're also superb. All showed tremendous sensitivity and a great deal of care. Michelle who started her shift just as we were leaving showed the same level of care. Even when we were leaving we were escorted downstairs by a nurse.

A traumatic day made bearable by all we met at wishaw general.

Thank you

Dear Abyj,

Thank you for being so kind and sharing your appreciation for our staff who supported you and your wife at this extremely heartfelt sad time. I will share this with Maureen, Michelle and Nikki and our medical staff and it will also comfort them that the care they provided helped you both.

As Midwives we completely understand that any loss of a baby is very traumatic for you both and worse so when women have to endure procedures following this. It is reassuring that the care you received was sensitive and compassionate and to know and feel this care made this traumatic day bearable. As you will know we aim to continue our relationship with you both, to support you and please contact me if you have not yet got an appointment for our Miscarriage return clinic. Tel: 01698 366354

Please accept my sincere condolences and my thoughts are with you and your wife.

Kindest Wishes

Wendy
