About: Hillingdon Hospital

Was most upset and concerned to find that a Consultant I have had for 9 years has left without even speaking to me about my continued care. Was left to find this out by a change of appointment letter, with no explanation. The change of appointment date was no o.k for me and when telephoning was told there were no other dates. I have a rare condition that makes it difficult to find Doctors that understand it and so it is important to have the right Consultant. Would have thought a letter of explanation, from the Hospital would have been better than nothing

I was sorry to hear of the concern that you felt at the departure of one of our consultants. The Doctor in question has given many years of dedicated service to the Trust and is moving on now to take on new challenges elsewhere. The Neurology department at Hillingdon hospital has recently appointed two new consultants both of whom have specialist interests in a number of areas and the department will continue to provide an excellent service to the local population. Your suggestion of a communication to patients when a Doctor is leaving to convey the relevant information is very sensible and the Trust will certainly look to do this in the future.
