(as the patient),

I attended the X ray department at Seacroft hospital a few weeks ago. I was shocked by how there seemed to be no care for dignity. I was taken to get changed in a cubicle into a backless gown and then asked to sit in the waiting room.

I was embarrassed as there were males in the waiting area and as a Care worker myself I would not have such a lack of respect for someones privacy and dignity.

I am shocked that practice like this still happens especially when Essence of care is so privelent in Healthcare settings.

Please accept our apologies for the upset we caused you on your recent visit to radiology.

It is custom and practice to change patients into backless examination gowns. However, patients should be given a second gown to cover the back opening and/or remain in the changing cubicle if they prefer not to wait in the waiting room.

The option to wait in the cubicle is one that is routinely offered. However, on this occasion it was obviously not offered. I am sure the staff will be upset that they have fallen short of their usual high standards.

We can confirm that the department will be made aware of this posting.
