"Couldn't fault the care I recived throughout my..."

About: Lister Hospital

Having a major fear of hospitals I was terrified prior to my visit, however I couldn't fault my whole experience! I was booked in for early induction of labour on the dacre ward at 37 weeks as my baby boy was measuring on the small side. From the minute I arrived the midwifes were very friendly and helpfull despite clearly being rushed off their feet! I was so thankfull that my partner was able to stay with me even at night times as I know before partners were unable to stay overnight, this really helped me to stay calm and as relaxed as possible during my whole stay! When I eventually got to the stage that my waters could be broken I was taken to the clu and things started to happen very quickly which was quite scary! My midwife was so supportive throughout the whole labour she was amazing and I want to say a massive thank you to her for claming me down and being so kind to myself any my partner!! She made sure I was aware of my options regarding pain relief and talked me through the whole thing! I think she was also due to change shifts or have a break halfway through my labour but she stayed with me which I was really greatfull for (I wasn't aware if this at the time but my partner told me afterwards)! After I was taken to the glouster ward and all the midwifes that I saw were very helpfull answered all my questions and put my mind at ease about my son Ziggy's feeding when I was worried! All in all I can say that I had a great experience during my time in the maternity unit despite being very apprehensive before hand due to my hospital fears and hearing bad reviews previously. Which Is why I felt I needed to share my experience in this review as I think you only really hear negative things and it would have put my mind at rest to hear more possitive reviews before hand.

Thank you so much for getting in touch. Since opening our Diamond Jubilee Maternity Unit in 2011, the reviews from women using has, in the main, been very positive indeed. Of course there are always improvements that can be made - allowing partners to stay overnight when a women is being induced being a great example of that. Your feedback is a real testament to our great maternity team, who working to create a really rather special service - their aim is to become amongst the best in the country! We'll now make sure that your kind words reach the team, but in the meantime may we wish you and your new family every best wishes for the future.
