"Broken ankle operation 5th Jan 2015"

First time I have been to the new hospital and I was impressed. The staff at Gate 12 are lovely and helpful. The surgeon and theatre staff were first class along with the XRay and plaster room staff. However I was very disappointed with Pre Op & Post Op care. My pre care nurse was sent to another ward but told me before she left I would go to theatre in the next 15 minutes and someone else would look after me and see me in 5 minutes. I didn't see anyone for over an hour, and whilst I was happy to wait I was in a room with the blinds down not knowing if anyone even knew I was still in the room. I don't have a problem with waiting it was the not knowing. Post Op care was awful, I was not even properly awake from the GA when the HCA told me to get dressed and she would call my husband to pick me up. I felt the HCA was uncaring and was really bothered about me. Me and my husband left 20 minutes later, me still very drowsy and unimpressed with the HCA. All that said with the exception of Pre and Post OP the staff and care have been excellent and continue to be on follow up visits.
