I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of August 2014, two days after I found a lump. I was diagnosed on the day of my first visit to hospital. This was obviously very distressing, particularly as I am 36 years old. Every member of staff was unbelievably kind, knowledgable and understanding. Within days, I was having MRI's, further biopsies and various scans. I started chemo within two weeks of diagnosis. The Garden Suite staff- both nursing and administrative- were unbelievably attentive and thoughtful. Post chemo, I was admitted for a bilateral mastectomy, with immediate implant reconstruction. I was discharged the day after surgery, with no complications. The nursing staff were very good. My surgeon is wonderful. Very approachable, and very respectful of my wishes. I was very happy with the results. I have had contact with numerous departments- oncology, the Garden Suite, radiography and the breast care nurses. At all times I have been treated with the up most dignity and have felt genuinely cared for. I feel I have been treated as an individual- my own particular needs and circumstances being considered at all times. I can't fault my treatment, from start to finish.
