"My father had two heart attack"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital

on the 14th Feb my Father suffered a heart attack which my Mother was unaware of when the ambulance staff arrived. The paramedics were fantastic and informed us that they would be taking him straight through to Blackpool. I asked why not Blackburn which was closest to where we live. They told me Blackpool was the best place to be in case anything needed to be done, it would save transferring him and save time. I am so glad the paramedics made this decision, he suffered another heart attack whilst in the ambulance. By the time we put some belongings together and sorted out dog care and got to Blackpool, my Father was down in theatre and having two stents put in. When we arrived at Blackpool Victoria, ward 17 a male nurse greeted us and told us what was happening, made us a brew and took on board that my Father also suffers with Alzeimhers. During the few days he was in there, all the staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble for them, my father kept getting very confused and ringing us at all times for different things. Cannot thank the staff enough for their patience, care and understanding and their support to my Mother when my Father was discharged. He was treat with respect and dignity at all times by very caring staff. Thankyou.

Thank you for your very kind comments about the care and treatment your father received whilst at Blackpool Victoria Hospital recently. All of our staff strive to do the very best they can to make all procedures and aftercare run as smoothly as possible to aid the recovery of our patients.

I’m really pleased to hear that the staff were so caring and understanding and that you felt your Father was treated with such respect and dignity. I will ensure that your wonderful feedback is shared with all the teams who looked after him, I’m sure they’ll be delighted to hear that as a family, at such a worrying time, you had positive experience overall and that your Mother felt so well supported. I hope that your Father continues to make a good recovery.

All the very best for the future
